This set of prints interprets the theme of ‘organic patterns’ through the‘Six Stages of Grief’ - a human pattern of emotions.
Each print, titled as one of the six stages - shock, denial, anger, bargaining, despair and hope - utilises fairly representational forms, treated in such a way in which they create a landscape - representing the landscape of the mind.
The palette of cyan, magenta and yellow - the primary colours of print- comments on the fundamental qualities of emotions as well as providing vibrancy- a juxtaposition against the darker concept of grief.
Compositionally split, each piece comments on the dichotomies, the compare and contrast present in the grieving process.
Produced as a sequential collection, the prints start by luring the audience through the ambiguity of ‘#1 Shock’, shows the progression of the complexity of grief - getting increasing overwhelming yet with pockets of clarity, a progression of abstraction - and ends with ‘#6 Hope’ a culmination- a complex yet resolved conclusion - an extension to continue on.
